Become Your Own Best Editor
A 6-week workshop with Alison Dale
How it works:
Every week, for 6 consecutive weeks, Alison [Dale —not Wearing!] will facilitate a live 2-hour workshop via Zoom. This workshop is limited to 8 participants.
Each week will begin with a short presentation on a key aspect of self-editing, followed by an in-class practice session. Participants will also have the opportunity to apply these lessons and techniques to current writing projects, choosing the type of editing most suited to the piece’s current stage (structural editing, developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, etc.).
In this six-week course, you will learn:
1. Types and Stages of Editing (and how to identify where you are in the process)
2. How to Build a Constructive Relationship Between Your Inner Writer & Inner Editor (so each one respects and supports the other)
3. How to Find and Accentuate the Music in Your Writing (so readers can better engage with you)
4. How to Write Cinematically & Strengthen Your Scenes (so readers can take the trip with you)
5. How to Tie Your Themes to Your Scenes (so readers feel the cohesion in your story)
6. How to Polish Your Memoir Mirror (so that it clearly and accurately reflects you & invites readers to see themselves, too)
Each person will receive individualised feedback on her/his writing.
Alison Dale will also offer a private 1:1 session to each participant to discuss and further polish a piece of writing.
If you would like to improve your writing by sharpening your editorial skills and polish your craft, this is a wonderful opportunity.
This is also an excellent way to learn how to prepare a piece of writing for submission to a competition or a magazine/journal.
(Just an idea!)
