Confessions of a Fairy’s Daughter is Alison Wearing’s story of growing up with a gay father.

Woven through music and image, this multimedia monologue moves from Alison’s carefree childhood to the moment she learned, at age twelve, that her family was a tad more complex than she had thought. The ensuing eight years were a time of confusion and disbelief, puff pastry and opera, bath house raids, scandal and celebration. Balancing intimacy, history and downright hilarity, Confessions of a Fairy’s Daughter is a captivating tale of family life: deliciously imperfect, delightfully challenging, and full of life’s great lessons in love.

Confessions was awarded BEST OF FEST when it premiered at the Wakefield Fringe Festival (Quebec) in June, 2011.

Alison is currently completing a book by the same title.

    Confessions' first (and only) review:

"With abounding humour and positive stage energy, Alison Wearing recalls, chapter by chapter, what it meant discovering that her father was gay...this one–woman show is a delightfully colourful account of life, ‘70s culture and hallucinogenic family Thanksgivings. Peterborough–native Wearing gives a loveable, daring, heartfelt performance."
